Race Report May 2013
This month I’ve chosen to split the entry money raised (£120) between the STV Appeal (Mark Beaumont challenge) and Orkidstudio.
The night before the race I went along to a talk being given by Mark Beaumont (round the world cyclist) which he was giving as a fundraiser for the charity Orkidstudio, of which he is patron.
Orkidstudio was established about 5 years ago by James Mitchell, an architect student, and does projects in developing countries designing and constructing community buildings.
Two days after giving his talk, Mark Beaumont started his Highland Line running and swimming challenge from Arran to Aberdeen in aid of the STV Appeal.
It seemed timely therefore to donate the money raised on Friday to these causes. Thanks to all who turn up to these races – regulars and newcomers alike.
